Whilst our operations cover an extensive and growing fleet of in‑service aircraft, we are engaged in developing the next generation of sustainable transport solutions, both of which require Reliability, Maintainability and Testability (RM&T) engineering services to assure world‑class reliability and customer support.

We are hiring an RM&T Engineering Leader to join our Engineering team and lead a small team of RM&T engineers. The role‑holder will be simultaneously focused on developing a high‑performing team and delivering RM&T services to projects across the lifecycle. Your ability to collaborate and influence at all levels across Dowty’s organisation will be essential, and success will bring opportunities for growth within Dowty's team and the broader GE Aerospace community.

Role
  • Develop a high performing team to deliver RM&T services to bids, projects and in‑service support
  • Lead the team to meet company expectations for productivity, continuous improvement and accomplishment of priorities whilst promoting a culture of knowledge sharing and the application of lessons learned
  • Take a lead in developing the technical capability of the Engineering department, including evolution of tools, processes and procedures for RM&T services
  • Work towards becoming our RM&T technical authority
  • Support programmes across the product lifecycle, including bids and proposals, new product introduction and in‑service support
  • Lead and contribute to typical RM&T activities such as generation and review of requirements, FMEA and other RM&T documentation
  • Interface with customers to develop RM&T analysis to support incorporation into aircraft level fault tree analysis
  • Lead the generation and analysis of in‑service reliability data to drive both product improvements and facilitate prediction of spares volumes
  • Identify and manage reliability‑related design risks
  • Evaluate system maintainability to support aircraft maintenance requirements
  • Create reliability test plans and procedures and document test results
  • Support recruitment, performance management, career development and succession planning for the team.
We Are Looking For
  • Reliability engineering experience is essential - together with experience of complex products and design for reliability
  • Previous experience in aviation, automotive, or similar embedded systems development environments
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as ARP
    4754A and ARP
    4761 is highly desirable
  • Experience with the systems design lifecycle and capturing, understanding, and documenting customer Reliability and Maintainability requirements
  • Good appreciation of Design for Reliability principles and ability to generate RM&T assessments, including Reliability Predictions, FMEAs, and maintainability analyses
  • Strong understanding of reliable and usable product design
  • Experience in leading and developing teams including direct people leadership
  • Strong communication and influencing skills with demonstrated aptitude for interacting at all levels within the business
  • Passion for engineering and sustainability, with interest in industry trends and aircraft electrification
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with good written and verbal communication skills
  • An appropriate degree or HND in Engineering, Mathematics, Electronics, Applied Physics, or similar, or equivalent experience.
