We have an exciting opportunity to join an existing team as a Software Engineering Team Lead
, providing technical and personnel leadership to deliver cutting‑edge software solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong software background, with experience leading technical strategy to accelerate deliveries such as migrating to the cloud, Dev Sec Ops , SRE, and cutting‑edge software architecture and methodologies, coupled with leadership skills to support a team of engineers, working on‑site at least part of each week.

It’s a great opportunity to develop your leadership skills by assuming line‑management responsibilities without sacrificing the technical aspect of your role.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for day‑to‑day employee management, performance assessment, work assignments, approvals and recognition/disciplinary actions.
• Lead a technical team and work with stakeholders to deliver secure, high‑quality software.
• Manage time and the team’s time effectively to develop solutions that meet cost and quality targets.
• Promote and drive innovation and technical excellence across software engineering teams.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and suppliers across all levels of the organisation internally and with the customer.
• Collaborate internally to drive personnel‑focused process improvements.
• Collaborate with customer teams to standardise approaches and bring best practices to bear across the organisation.
• Participate in technical and business meetings, ensuring engineering elements are completed on schedule following established procedures, schedules, and work plans.
• Perform additional programme‑related tasks assigned that fall within your area of expertise, competence and skill set.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

• Skilled at active listening and technical mentoring.

• Proficiency in a current software development language such as Java, C/C++, Python, Type Script, React
  
  JS.

A knowledge of

• Dev Sec Ops  approaches to automation and security.
• Infrastructure as code tools.
• Cloud technologies.

Desired skills, qualifications and experience

• Experience leading and day‑to‑day managing people.
• Ability to analyse technical problems and provide pragmatic solutions.
• Proven ability to produce cost‑effective and technically compliant solutions.
• Experience as an engineering lead or similar position.
• Experience with agile or kanban methodologies.
• Experience working in a highly regulated industry.
• Degree in Engineering or other STEM subjects.
