Exams Officer

About the role

We are seeking a highly organised, meticulous and proactive Exams Officer to play a key role in ensuring the smooth, secure and compliant delivery of all KS4 external examinations and assessments.

This is a vital position responsible for leading and administering all aspects of the external examinations process in line with JCQ and awarding body requirements.

• Coordinate exam entries.
• Oversee the secure handling and storage of examination materials.
• Organise logistics including rooming and timetabling.
• Ensure all regulatory procedures are followed precisely.
• Plan and implement exam access arrangements with curriculum leaders, centre managers and the SEND team, maintain accurate records and apply for special consideration where required.
• Support the Head of Centre during inspections, investigations or regulatory visits, and keep school policies up to date with changes in guidance.
• Build positive professional relationships with awarding bodies and external agencies, ensuring processes are delivered with integrity and confidentiality.

The role requires excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to remain calm and flexible under pressure, particularly during peak exam periods.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience of exams administration — or a strong willingness to develop expertise — to make a meaningful impact within the Altus School community.

This post is term time plus Inset days (39 weeks); the postholder will be required to work for 2 days during the summer holidays for the KS4 results and this time can be taken in lieu at other times during the school year. The post-holder will typically work 25 hours per week, these hours can be worked flexibly although during the exam period the expectation is that you will be on site on days when exams are occurring.

The Altus School is a local authority maintained alternative provision school, working with students from Year 1 through to Y11 who predominantly join us after a permanent exclusion from a mainstream setting.
