A vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Gloucester is seeking an enthusiastic and imaginative Drama Teacher to join its performing arts department. This is an exciting opportunity to nurture creativity, build students’ confidence and contribute to a thriving extra-curricular programme.

About the Role

The Drama Teacher will deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and Key Stage 5 where applicable). Working closely with the Head of Department and senior leaders, you will play a key role in developing a dynamic drama curriculum that encourages collaboration, resilience and artistic excellence.

You will also contribute to school productions and performance events, enriching the cultural life of the school community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality Drama lessons aligned with the national curriculum and GCSE specifications
  • Prepare students for practical and written assessments, ensuring strong progress and attainment
  • Direct and support school productions, showcases and performance evenings
  • Foster a safe, inclusive and purposeful rehearsal environment
  • Monitor and track pupil progress, implementing targeted intervention where required
  • Contribute to curriculum development within the Performing Arts department
  • Uphold high standards of behaviour and classroom management
The Ideal Candidate
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching Drama at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for theatre and performance
  • Ability to inspire confidence and creativity in young people
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing
  • Legal right to work in the UK
