Qualified Dental Nurse

Gloucestershire Community Dental Services delivers high quality care to individuals with additional and complex needs across the County. We are looking for two experienced GDC registered dental nurses to join our dedicated and supportive team. Opportunities are available at our Southgate Moorings Clinic, Gloucester (37.5 hours per week) and Redwood House, Stroud (30 hours per week), with an expectation to cover alternative sites when required.

Key responsibilities include:

• Communicate effectively with a variety of service users who have individual needs and other health professionals.
• Proficiently use all dental equipment, including performing performance checks and identifying maintenance issues.
• Carry out stock control and maintain stock in the surgeries.
• Provide chair side dental nurse duties, assisting dentists and delivering dental treatment in the community dental service.
• Ensure all necessary instruments, equipment and materials are prepared and ready for use on each patient, with a specific requirement for accuracy during all procedures.
• Maintain fine instruments and materials for clinical use, continually interpreting the needs of patients and clinicians and addressing them promptly and efficiently.
• Handle patients, stock and equipment following manual handling techniques laid down by the trust.
• Process radiographs using toxic chemicals and mounting x-rays, and be responsible for accurate labelling and filing of x-rays.
• Ensure that all records, including medical history forms and x-rays, are available when required.
