About the RoleWe are seeking a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor to join our Property Services Division on a permanent basis. This is a specialist, profitable division delivering insurance loss repair and reinstatement works following floods, fires, escape of water, lightning strikes, building defects and similar events.
Projects range from £10,000 to £1,000,000 (tendered and negotiated) and measured term/schedule of rates works from £10,000 to £100,000, across:
- Domestic properties
- Multi-occupancy residential
- Educational buildings
- Industrial and commercial sites
Much of our work is repeat business built on long-standing relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors. We are looking for a team player who shares our collaborative, trust-based approach.
Key ResponsibilitiesYou will work alongside Contracts Managers and Site Managers to deliver projects safely, on time, to a high quality, within budget and to margin targets.
Duties include- Preparing and agreeing monthly valuations and final account forecasts
- Preparing interim and final invoices
- Pricing, negotiating and agreeing variations and final accounts
- Compiling estimates for smaller projects (up to £50k)
- Procuring subcontractors, attending pre-order meetings and placing orders
- Issuing contractual correspondence and notices
- Attending site and team meetings
- Maintaining accurate project records and photographic documentation
- Providing commercial and contractual advice to the project team
You will report to and be supported by the Managing Surveyor and Associate Director.
About YouWe are looking for someone who:
- Has good knowledge of:
- Construction technology
- Building Regulations
- JCT Contracts & Subcontracts
- Measured term/schedule of rates projects
- Health & Safety requirements
- Lives within 45 minutes of our Gloucester base and is willing to travel to sites
- Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 (negotiable depending on experience)
