We are seeking a dedicated and professional individual to provide an efficient, confidential, and high-quality secretarial service to the Acute/Neonatal Clinical Team. This role involves delivering essential administrative and secretarial support to facilitate patient care. Strong communication skills are key, as the post-holder will liaise with parents, relatives, general practitioners, and other hospital staff to ensure a seamless and effective service for both patients and clinicians.
As part of the wider Administrative Team, the post-holder will report to the Administration Lead and contribute to the smooth running of the service.

Main duties of the jobAs a Medical Administrator, you will be responsible for managing Consultants' correspondence, audio typing, handling patient queries, and liaising with other healthcare professionals. This role requires initiative, decision-making skills, and efficiency to deliver a comprehensive administrative service.
Key Skills and Experience Required- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent command of English, punctuation, and grammar.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
- Strong IT skills to ensure efficient use of hospital computer systems.
- Accurate and proficient audio typing skills.
- A professional and confident telephone manner.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Flexibility to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
- Sound judgement and initiative to handle tasks independently when required.

Job responsibilitiesRole Overview
We are seeking a professional and efficient Medical Administrator to provide confidential and high-quality administrative support to the Acute Clinical Team. The role involves handling correspondence, audio typing, booking appointments, checking outcomes, managing vacant slots and liaising with patients, relatives, GPs, and hospital staff. The post-holder will work as part of the Administration Team, reporting to the Administration Lead.
Person Specification- Educated to GCSE grade 4 or above in literacy and numeracy
- Experience in typing/word processing and data entry
- Proficient in NHS systems i.e TRAK/Sunrise/Infoflex
- Previous experience working in a busy office
- Previous experience of dealing with members of the public
- Audio/Digital Typing
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues, risk management and data protection act
- Previous Medical Secretary/hospital experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with good command and understanding of English punctuation and grammar
- Good organisation skills
- Good professional telephone manner for dealing with queries, liaising with Health Professionals and Administration staff both internal and external to the trust
