ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Cape Ann Museum (CAM) is a leading regional museum, a treasure and force unto itself on Cape Ann, located at the epicenter of artistic and marine history in the Northeast. The Museum’s nationally significant collections include fine and decorative arts and artifacts relating to Cape Ann’s earliest days as a major fishing and shipping port, its mid-19th-century role in the granite industry, and the numerous artists who were attracted to its singular charms of light and sea.

These include such well-known painters and sculptors as Fitz Henry Lane, Winslow Homer, Cecilia Beaux, John Sloan, Edward Hopper, Milton Avery, Anna Hyatt Huntington, and Walker Hancock.

In June of 2026, the Museum will present Avery, Gottlieb & Rothko:
By the Sea, a landmark exhibition on view at the Cape Ann Museum from June 30 through September 27, 2026. This major exhibition will open following the Museum’s completion of a significant renovation of its Downtown campus, part of an historic $23 million fundraising campaign that includes reimagined gallery spaces.

Key among CAM’s priorities is growing membership and elevating philanthropy as both a critical and integral facet of the Museum’s future operations.

JOB SUMMARY

The Events & Stewardship Manager reports to the Director of Development and is responsible for managing all details pertaining to individual and corporate member events annually. This role oversees the execution of CAM’s full portfolio of development-related events and designs and implements stewardship opportunities across the Museum’s multi-tiered membership structure. These offerings include, but are not limited to, exhibition openings, member benefit events, and fundraising initiatives.

A key component of this position is the planning and execution of the Museum’s multi-tiered Downtown Campus reopening in spring 2026, following the successful completion of CAM’s $23 million capital campaign.

Additionally, the Events & Stewardship Manager will manage and implement the multi-day opening events for the Museum’s landmark exhibition, Avery, Gottlieb, & Rothko:
By the Sea, opening in June 2026.

  • Serve as the primary contact for all electronic and print collateral as relates to invitations, calendars and other event-related materials as needed with both the Museum’s brand design consultant and print vendors
