The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for assisting in the extraction and refinement of cannabis, including all tasks associated with the production of CO2 oil and distillate. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cannabis extraction, post-processing techniques, and distillation. Experience in a production-based cannabis extraction facility is preferred, and a background in chemistry with laboratory experience is highly favored.
The laboratory technician will be able to easily follow company SOP's efficiently and safely and thrives in a fast paced, detail-oriented, collaborative environment. The ability to learn and apply new scientific concepts to improve workflow, efficiency, and safety is paramount. Scrupulously tracking and logging data for a variety of processes is central to this role.
Regular exposure to finely milled plant material and dry green waste is expected, so allergies or sensitivities to dry cannabis plant material should be taken into consideration before applying to this role (PPE will be provided).
Laboratory Technician responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
· Chopping/milling plant material.
· Using ovens to decarboxylate plant material.
· Strictly adhere to SOP's for supercritical CO2 extraction, winterization, vacuum filtration, short path and wiped film distillation.
· Clean and maintain equipment and glassware.
· Upkeeping a clean and organized workspace at all times.
· Understanding workflow and attention to detail in large-scale production environments.
· Comfort and confidence working with solvents and chemicals.
· Using deductive reasoning to identify problems and find creative solutions.
· Meticulously logging data for a variety of processes; using these data to make constructive inferences.
· Responsible for weighing, tracking, and processing raw plant material into CO2 oil and distillate following Happy Valley SOP's.
· Tracking inventory in METRC and ERP as it moves through the process in different forms.
· Responsible for following regulatory laws set forth by the commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Cannabis Control Commission.
· Responsible for sending out batch samples for testing.
· Physically fit, ability to meet physical demands including reaching, bending, walking, standing and performing repetitive work.
· Comfortable working in adverse conditions. i.e. hot/ cold environments, high-intensity lighting, and intense workflow. This includes working with highly pressurized CO2 extraction equipment.
· Cleaning and sanitizing equipment, extraction tools, glassware, collection vessels etc.
· Ability to perform repetitive tasks for long periods of time.
· Availability to work occasional weekends and holidays.
· The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 7AM to 4PM.

Salary
$20 USD per hourRequired Skills
- Strong scientific background in fundamentals of extraction, filtration, distillation, and isolation.
- A thorough understanding of the fundamentals of cannabis extraction.
- Technical problem-solving skills in a production environment with chemical processing equipment, specifically Supercritical Fluid Extraction-SFE and post-processing techniques.
- Experience in the formulation and accurate dosing of edible/topical products is advantageous.
- Passion for cannabis and cannabis extraction.
Desired Skills
- BS/BA or Associates degree in chemical engineering, life science, chemistry, biochemistry, and/or phytobiology (preferred).
- Plant Extraction: 2 years (preferred).
- Knowledge of cannabinoids, terpenes, and their medicinal benefits is preferred.
- Experience in a lab or manufacturing setting highly preferred.
