About the Role

Cometeer is seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team supporting a fast‑paced coffee manufacturing facility in Gloucester, MA. In this role, you will maintain, troubleshoot, and improve production and facility equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality operations. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, proactive, and thrives in a collaborative environment.

Reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician is part of a small, close‑knit maintenance team. The role offers defined developmental opportunities, supported through structured training and direct mentorship. You will work closely with the Factory Engineering Manager and collaborate daily with Engineering, Operations, and Quality. Cometeer provides a challenging and engaging environment and is dedicated to the growth and success of each employee.

What

You’ll Do
  • Perform supervised preventive maintenance (PM) and reactive repairs on diverse equipment, including electro‑mechanical, conveyor, hydraulics, pneumatic, and robotic systems.
  • Install, assemble, and test new machinery and equipment.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Engineering to improve equipment cleaning, repair, and operating procedures.
  • Respond promptly to radio and Slack communications from Operations regarding active production issues.
  • Assist in training staff on proper equipment operation and safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and work documentation in CMMS (Maintain

    X).
  • Monitor equipment performance (temperature, sound, energy usage) and troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Safely use hand and power tools to perform repairs.
  • Identify, source, and replace worn parts.
  • Manage spare parts inventory in Maintain

    X.
  • Interpret manuals, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and P&IDs for operation and maintenance.
  • Identify and address safety hazards, follow LOTO, and comply with food safety/quality standards.
  • Prioritize safety and maintain an organized workspace.
What We’re Looking For
  • 1-5+ years of maintenance experience or hands‑on production equipment operation with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; industrial certifications a plus.
  • Hands‑on experience troubleshooting electro‑mechanical equipment.
  • Familiarity with conveyors, pumps, valves, motors, gearboxes, and pneumatic systems.
  • Proficient with basic computer tools, including Google Workspace.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and understand measurement techniques and tolerances.
  • Basic electrical knowledge and awareness of electrical safety requirements and hazards.
  • Strong problem‑solving and root‑cause analysis skills; able to implement data‑driven solutions.
  • Detail‑oriented and safety‑focused.
  • Effective communicator, able to work independently, collaboratively, and across teams.
  • Understanding of general equipment maintenance procedures and techniques.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in food, beverage, or CPG manufacturing.
  • Experience in machining or fabrication (mill, lathe, welding, etc.).
  • Mechanical or electrical certifications.
  • Experience with Solid Works, 3D printing, AutoCAD, or other CAD platforms.
  • Experience with Allen‑Bradley or other industrial controls and/or automation systems.
  • Experience working in regulated quality management systems (QMS) (e.g., SQF).
  • Experience using a CMMS platform (Maintain

    X or similar).
  • Food safety and sanitation experience.
  • Passion for coffee.
