Job Description

We are seeking a team player to perform the essential custodial functions for Cruiseport Gloucester and Seaport Grille. The General Maintenance/Janitor/Custodian position is responsible for daily custodial services needed to maintain a clean, well‑maintained, and welcoming property environment. The ideal candidate will be flexible and willing to take on non‑routine cleaning, maintenance, and special projects as the need arises.

Experience

Must have at least one (1) or more years of experience in a similar role.

Essential Functions
  • Maintains, cleans, and keeps orderly the interior and exterior of Cruiseport and Seaport Grille, property, and grounds.
  • Perform custodial tasks such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, cleaning, vacuuming and other general cleaning tasks in Cruiseport and Seaport Grille, and other spaces within and around the building and its exterior.
  • Responsible for removal of Cruiseport and office rubbish and snow removal as well as sidewalk clearing.
  • Required to perform light preventative and corrective maintenance on furniture, equipment, and facilities.
  • Moves furniture as needed for events and general cleaning, and must respond quickly to any facility emergencies, sanitary needs, or Management requirements.
  • Responsible for setup and breakdown of tables and chairs for Cruiseport events.
  • Promptly reports any damage to, or malfunction of property and maintenance systems to the Department/Property Manager.
  • All work must be done with pride and in a professional manner at all times.
  • Perform other duties as designated by the Management Team to include:
    Events/Sales, Restaurant, and Maintenance Managers, and Managing Director.
Other Duties May Include
  • Driving the company vehicles for routine errands and supply runs and/or snow plowing.
  • Operating the forklift.
Experience and Skills
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be able to problem‑solve, work independently, and work cooperatively as a team member.
  • Must be competent in the use of a wide variety of hand and power tools.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with the Management Team and team members.
  • Position requires physical activity including bending, lifting, and rotating on a continuous basis throughout the shift.
  • Ability to climb and carry ladders.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for at least 8 hours at a time.
  • Practice and observe all safety procedures.
  • Ability to read electronic, pneumatic, and electrical gauges and meters.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems to identify and isolate problematic components or systems.
  • Actual compensation is commensurate with relevant skills and qualifications.
  • Salary range is $18–$20/hr.
Working Environment
  • Work will primarily take place at all interior and exterior parts of the building to include, but not limited to the grounds, parking lot, driveways, and sidewalks.
  • Exterior of building with exposure to extreme weather and temperatures.
  • Exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oils, soaps and cleaning chemicals.
  • Work to be performed in tight spaces with limited ability to move, and elevated heights on occasion is to be expected.
