The primary focus of this role is to support, implement, and improve manufacturing test in a production environment under the direction of manufacturing engineering. The secondary focus is to support all other manufacturing engineering goals, objectives, and initiatives. Ideal candidates demonstrate higher level knowledge and skills within their discipline, solve varied and moderately complex problems independently, and exhibit knowledge of the company, processes and customers.
Key Responsibilities- Interface with other test engineers and internal customers to coordinate the deployment of new test fixtures.
- Begin evaluating, designing and project managing own test fixture projects and solicit assistance as needed.
- Write, release, approve, implement, and issue engineering change orders (ECOs) to support new or improved test fixtures and equipment.
- Assist or own the coordination and/or execution of test fixture sourcing activities.
- Use basic engineering and DFx principles to estimate and reduce test fixture development costs and improve delivered fixture quality.
- Develop, maintain and improve test procedures and the overall testing process, assisting with the definition of test specifications with design, software, and manufacturing engineering.
- Determine time standards and implement changes to improve safety, quality, and reliability.
- Apply lean principles to eliminate waste in the production/test system.
- Determine root cause and implement corrective actions for issues that arise during design and deployment of test fixtures, and provide failure analysis reports as required.
- Gather operational and test data, evaluate results, and use data to make data‑driven continuous improvement changes to the test process.
- Ideal candidate will have working experience with Mayan or equivalent software.
- Proficiency in Agile
E6, SAP, PTC Creo, Ansys, Smartsheet, Tableau, Team Center, Core+ or other similar software programs is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2–4 years of related experience
- Strong conceptual knowledge and technical experience for everyday problem‑solving on the job.
- Solid interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly explain complex information to others.
This position may require standing for extended periods of time, walking, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, lifting, the ability to distinguish between colors, and the ability to work in an environment with noise that may be difficult for some individuals with sensitivity to noise. Use of hand and power tools, and when necessary, work in a clean room with appropriate personal protective equipment such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields may be required.
