Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled A Crane Mechanic who is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of cranes, including mobile, overhead, tower, and crawler cranes. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to ensure safe and efficient crane operation
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in cranes and related equipment.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections to ensure equipment meets safety and operational standards.
- Repair or replace defective components such as hoist systems, gears, motors, and control panels.
- Maintain accurate service records, including work performed, parts used, and hours worked.
- Test crane performance after repairs to verify proper operation.
- Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Collaborate with crane operators, engineers, and safety personnel to assess equipment performance and make necessary adjustments.
- Comply with OSHA, manufacturer guidelines, and company safety policies.
- Use diagnostic tools and heavy-duty mechanical equipment safely and effectively.
- Occasionally travel to job sites for on-site service and emergency repairs.
- High school diploma or GED; technical certification or associate degree in diesel mechanics, industrial maintenance, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a crane mechanic or heavy equipment technician.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic software and hand tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and service manuals.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, often in outdoor or high-risk environments.
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) upon job offer.
- Certification from the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) or similar organization.
- Welding and fabrication skills.
- Familiarity with different brands and models of cranes (e.g., Liebherr, Manitowoc, Terex)
