Overview

Geographic Information System (GIS) Technician – Town of Glocester, Rhode Island

• Input, update and maintain GIS databases, coverages, layers, and linkages.
• Interpret maps, plats, development documents, aerial imagery and source materials.
• Edit data with QA/QC, perform geocoding, GPS data collection, and troubleshoot projection and geometry issues.
• Maintain thorough documentation, organize records, and ensure data integrity.
• Manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain effective working relationships.
• Communicate effectively in writing and verbally for technical audiences.

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, computer science or a related field.
• Two or more years of experience in GIS maintenance, analysis, and applications support.
• An equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and experience may be considered.
• Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Field Maps and related ESRI tools.

• Part-time position; approximately eight hours per week.
• Hourly rate: $41.42.
• Reports to the Town Planner.
• Most work may be done remotely, with at least one day per month in the Town Hall in Chepachet.
