Clinical Laboratory Assistant

The Clinical Laboratory Assistant works under limited supervision and follows established practice in performing majority of duties. Responsible for cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing various equipment, media and work areas in the Clinical Laboratory. Maintains Clinical Laboratory inventory and performs various plating of specimens and staining under the supervision of the Medical Technologist.

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Completion of the Clinical Laboratory Assistant curriculum.
• Phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting
• BLS/CPR Certification required
• Skilled at multitask abilities, detail oriented self-starter and self-managed. Legible handwriting. Maintains self with professionalism at all times.
• Basic knowledge of computers. Previous experience with Meditech system or mainframe system preferred plus knowledge of office equipment such as telephone, fax machine, and copier
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age ("age: refers to newborn, infant, toddler, preschool, school age, adolescent, adult and senior") of the patients in the unit as outlined in established procedures.
