Distance Learning Teacher

Overview

The Adult Basic Education (ABE) Distance Learning Teacher provides support to the instructional process with the specific responsibility of developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction. Established curriculum guidelines include state mandates, collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instruction and responding to a wide range of communication regarding instructional program and student progress.

All instruction is provided in a virtual platform and meets the needs of students across Gila County. The ABE Distance Learning teacher reports to the Program Director.

The teacher:

• analyzes initial placement testing programs and/or subject specific assessments, etc., for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning pathways.
• advises students of available academic pathways to determine which plan meets the desired outcomes.
• assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to the student.
• offers effective instruction to students for the purpose of improving their success on the Arizona Adult Education ABE Standards in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Civics, Social Studies, and Science.
• prepares instructional materials, lesson plans and classroom presentations based on the Arizona Adult Education Content Standards, helps students improve basic skills to successfully complete a high school equivalency diploma, and/or integrated skills program and transition to career pathways and/or post-secondary education.
• directs students on use of technology and soft job skills.
• performs special work assignments as part of the Adult Education Program team; participates in professional development and training activities/conferences as appropriate or required.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in job-related area.
• Certificate: Currently hold an AZ Adult Education Certificate (or ability to obtain)
• Fingerprint: Current Valid Arizona IVP Clearance Card
• Experience: Job-related experience is preferred.
