Looking for a fun and engaging job that makes a difference in the lives of animals and people? Colorado Animal Rescue is searching for Animal Care Technicians to fill a fun and rewarding position on our shelter team. The Animal Care Technician is the primary provider for our shelter pets’ daily needs. They ensure every dog, cat, and exotic pet receives appropriate nutrition, housing, and enrichment.
They work closely with the Veterinary, Behavior, and Adoptions & Intake teams to support animal health, daily activities, and positive outcomes for every shelter pet. The Animal Care Specialists are responsible for maintaining clean animal housing and common areas of the shelter. They’re experts in creating unique, comfortable, living spaces for every resident animal. If you love shelter pets, this is the place for you!
We’re seeking both full‑time and part‑time team members for this role. Weekends are required and Spanish speaking/bi‑lingual candidates are encouraged to apply. ($16.50 – 18.00/hr DOE)
The Animal Care Technician II is involved in all tasks associated with daily animal care. In addition, this role is trained as an Assistant Veterinary Technician. The Animal Care Tech II works directly with shelter animals, the animal care staff, the veterinary team and the public on both the Animal Care and Veterinary Care Teams. Responsibilities include cleaning, housing, nutrition in addition to performing intake exams, vaccinations, monitoring shelter pets, carrying out treatment plans, working alongside our Lead RVT and assisting our shelter Vet in weekly surgeries and exams.
Weekends are required with part‑time or full‑time hours available. ($17.00‑21.00/hr DOE).
A typical day for all employees working at the shelter may include:
- Joining in daily care, nutrition, enrichment, and placement of dogs, cats, and other shelter pets
- Maintaining a safe and clean environment
- Welcoming adopters, pet owners, and visitors through positive in‑person, telephone, and email interactions
- Reviewing adoption surveys to match adopters with a pet waiting for a home
- Designing and posting social media to spotlight C.A.R.E.’s adoptable pets
- Helping reunite a lost pet with their family
Ideal candidates for our team are:

- Bi‑lingual (Spanish/English), preferred not required
Physical Requirements:
- Work is performed within an office or animal kennel setting. Handle and restrain animals of various sizes, weights, and temperaments. Subject to animal bites or scratches. Work performed in high noise level areas. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, fumes, dust, animal dander, and feces. Physical efforts require constant bending, stooping, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, and walking. Frequent lifting of animals and objects with reasonable accommodation.

Our starting hourly pay range is $16.50 – 21.00 an hour and is dependent on job description and relevant work experience. Full‑time positions include paid vacation time & eligibility for health insurance. Reliable transportation and weekend scheduling is required for these positions.
