About the Evans Scholars Foundation
Evans Scholars Foundation:
Established in 1930 by the Western Golf Association and celebrated amateur golfer Charles “Chick” Evans Jr., the Evans Scholars Foundation awards full tuition and housing college scholarships to high-achieving caddies with limited financial means. It is the nation’s largest scholarship program for caddies.
About the Role
The Development Intern will support fundraising and alumni engagement efforts through phone outreach as part of the Development Officer Calling Program team. This role contributes to ongoing communication with Evans Scholars Alumni and supports broader development operations.
The position provides exposure to donor relations, communication strategy, and nonprofit development in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
This role is in-office and the candidate must reside in Chicagoland for the summer. They must also have access to reliable transportation, be willing to travel between program sites and event locations, and be willing to work occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Candidate must be available:
- July 17–19 (Summer Leadership Summit)
Relocation assistance may be available for current Evans Scholars, if applicable.
Job Responsibilities- Fundraise for our annual fund, major gifts, foundations and volunteer groups.
- Conduct alumni calls using provided guidance and training while developing comfort with donor conversations and relationship-building.
- Assist with basic reporting, data organization, and internal trackers related to fundraising and alumni outreach.
- Support the Development Team with packaging and shipping materials for donor stewardship, events, and other development initiatives.
- Learn through observation at team meetings and planning conversations to gain exposure to alumni engagement strategy and decision-making.
This role will also attend several Alumni events that occur throughout the summer and will be providing on-site support which can include (but is not limited to) guest check-in, registration, and event set up and breakdown, etc.
The alumni relations team will also work with this individual to conceive a theme to pursue through the summer as a capstone project. Support will be provided to research and create a presentation that will be given to the Senior Vice President of Development and other senior staff members.
Qualifications- Basic familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- A track record of leadership in extracurricular involvement.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Detail oriented with strong organization and time management skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Additional requirements
- Comfort speaking with alumni and donors by phone and willingness to prioritize phone calls as the main component of the role.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record information
- Professional, reliable, and able to represent the Evans Scholars Foundation positively
