R&D Lab Technician – Glenview, IL (Onsite)

  • Minimum high school diploma; prior laboratory experience
Responsibilities
  • Sample preparation & analysis – assemble beverages and desserts samples, measuring with analytical balances, heating, mixing, cooling, filling into packaging, labeling, storage, diluting using pipettors, coordinating shipments, logging samples into lab management system. Strong attention to detail required.
  • Shelf‑life testing support – prepare samples, document test results, submit testing requests, help with cleanup, inventory and report sample condition and quantities.
  • Inventory management of ingredients and chemicals – log chemicals for disposal, order materials, ensure ingredients are stored at end of workday, purchase in‑market samples and supplies as needed.
  • Support for pilot plant trials – attend onsite trials to support mixing, labeling, packing, shipping samples, perform benchtop analytical testing (pH, titratable acidity, Brix, colorimetry, density). Must safely lift 5–50 lbs; availability before 8 AM when required.
  • Lab organization – keep lab clean, organized, working order at start of each day; weekly calibration of analytical balances, create maintenance work orders, inventory, monthly safety checks.
  • Specification management – update records for materials, formulas, trade items; request cross‑functional approvals and follow up.
  • Graphics reviews – download/upload reports and verify graphics information (nutrition facts panels, ingredient lines, product info such as net content) match report.
  • Data entry & analysis – log large data sets accurately using Excel, provide high‑level summaries (averages), convert units, calculate averages, scale up formulations when given target values.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Forms.
