REQ-Allegheny Transportation Services We are seeking a proactive School Bus Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives for our student transportation operations. This role ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a strong safety culture across the organization.
** Key Responsibilities
*** Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs for school bus operations
* Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards
* Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and state-specific regulations
* Investigate collisions/incidents and implement corrective actions
* Deliver safety training for drivers and operational staff
* ** Administer and monitor compliance with DOT/FMCSA drug and alcohol testing programs
*** Maintain accurate safety records and prepare regulatory reports
* Collaborate with operations teams to address safety concerns promptly
* ** Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to drivers and staff to reinforce safe behaviors
*** Promote a strong safety culture through meetings, communications, and engagement activities
* Deliver CDL and non‑CDL driver training, including behind‑the‑wheel instruction, skills evaluations, and classroom sessions
** Qualifications
* ** 3–5 years of transportation safety management experience (school bus or transit preferred)
* In-depth knowledge of FMCSA, DOT, and state-specific regulations
* Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
* CDL with Passenger and School Bus endorsements preferred
* Familiarity with telematics systems and safety reporting tools
