Paralegal

Description We are looking for a skilled Paralegal to join our team in Glens Falls, New York. This role focuses on eviction proceedings and landlord-tenant litigation, requiring expertise in New York Real Property Law and related legislation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal documentation, case preparation, and compliance with local court procedures.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and review eviction-related notices, including Rent Demands, Notices to Cure, and Notices of Termination, ensuring compliance with New York law.

- Coordinate the service of legal notices with process servers and ensure proper documentation of affidavits of service.

- Draft and file legal pleadings such as petitions, motions, stipulations, and affidavits for attorney review.

- Organize and maintain case files, track deadlines, and manage court schedules efficiently.

- Assist attorneys in preparing for court appearances by organizing trial binders, evidence, and witness schedules.

- Communicate professionally with clients, court staff, and opposing counsel to provide case updates and address inquiries.

- Ensure all filings comply with New York Real Property Actions and Proceedings Law and local court rules.

- Provide accurate reports and updates to clients regarding case progress and upcoming requirements.

- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical practices in all aspects of paralegal work.

- Support attorneys with administrative tasks related to court proceedings, including filing and scheduling. Requirements - Minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience, preferably in landlord-tenant law or eviction proceedings.

- In-depth knowledge of New York Real Property Law, Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act, and related legislation.

- Proficiency in drafting eviction-related notices, pleadings, and other legal documents.

- Familiarity with e-filing systems and case management software such as Clio or Legal Files.

- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle high-volume caseloads.

- Excellent communication skills for client interaction and attention to detail in correspondence.

- Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.

- Paralegal certification is preferred but may be substituted with substantial relevant experience.
