Retail Sales Specialist

Schedule: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM (30-minute lunch) or 12:00 PM–8:00 PM | Days off:
Monday/Tuesday or Monday/Wednesday

Compensation: $22.00 per hour

Job Summary:

The Sales Product Specialist supports the sales process by developing a strong understanding of products and clearly communicating features, capabilities, and options to prospective customers. This role focuses on building and maintaining customer relationships, identifying buyer needs, and assisting customers throughout the purchasing process from initial inquiry through follow-up while following established processes and contributing to a professional, customer-focused experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop a strong understanding of automobiles by studying their characteristics, capabilities, and features. Compare and contrast competitive models and inspect vehicles.
• Develop buyer relationships by maintaining rapport with previous customers. Suggest trade-ins, engage prospects at community activities, greet walk-in customers, respond to inquiries, and recommend sales campaigns and promotions.
• Qualify buyers by understanding their requirements and interests, matching those needs to appropriate models, and building rapport.
• Demonstrate automobiles by explaining their characteristics, capabilities, and features. Conduct test drives and explain warranties and services.
• Close sales by overcoming objections, asking for the sale, negotiating pricing, and completing sales or purchase contracts. Explain contract provisions, offer warranties, services, and financing options, collect payment, and coordinate vehicle delivery.
• Provide sales management information by completing reports.
• Make follow-up phone calls to customers to ensure complete satisfaction.
• Discuss the importance of responding to CSI surveys during customer follow-up calls.
• Bring all customer concerns and complaints to the attention of Sales Managers.
• Answer inbound sales phone calls throughout the day and redirect them as necessary.
• Remain knowledgeable of new products, features, accessories, and processes.
• Attend meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
• Follow policies and procedures as set forth in the Employee Handbook.
• Use all company databases and software according to company-trained processes and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Required:

• Ability to report to work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism.
• Understanding and knowledge of equity and values, automobile depreciation, and local, state, and federal laws that guide the automobile industry.
• Excellent ability to communicate information to visitors and inquirers.
• Professional dress sense that portrays a neat and polished appearance.
• Ability to meet minimum sales quotas according to company standards.
• Aggressive selling approach combined with a positive attitude.
• Ability to work extended hours, evenings, holidays, and weekends.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English. A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance are required.
• Clean driving record with the ability to pass an MVR and background check. A valid California Sales License is required.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED). One to three months of related experience and or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
