Job DescriptionRF Characterization and Test Technician reporting to the Technology Lab Manager. The role involves executing RF coaxial connector qualification testing, collaborating with engineering teams on prototype development, and supporting quality and technology functions.
Required Skills- 2–3 years of experience as an RF test technician.
- Fundamental understanding of RF coaxial transmission and passive component test methods.
- Knowledge of connector impedance, time‑gating techniques, and use of Vector Network Analyzer.
- Hands‑on experience with RF signal and power source spectrum analyzers and RF power amplifiers.
- Creation and execution of mechanical, electrical, & environmental test plans.
- Ability to read, understand, and comply with Customer Source Control Drawings (SCD).
- Mechanical aptitude in use of tools, fixtures, gauges, and test equipment.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of metrology and electrical characterization techniques such as calibration, de‑embedding, and time‑domain analysis (40 MHz–100 GHz).
- Ability to translate verbal and written instructions into actions.
- Analytical thinking combined with practical judgment.
- Interface with Design Engineering, Product Line Specialist, and Applications Engineering.
- Develop test plans in compliance with customer requirements.
- Perform electrical, mechanical, and environmental qualification tests.
- Collect, compile, and maintain data in an organized manner.
- Produce formal test qualification reports for customer presentation.
- Collaborate with Design and Manufacturing Engineering teams to prepare test plans, methods, and procedures.
- Conduct tests and compile data for new product development.
- Define critical‑to‑quality attributes and quality plans.
- Coordinate competitive analysis and document findings.
- Support corrective action teams for customer-facing quality issues.
- Troubleshoot new and existing products to resolve manufacturing and application issues.
- Conduct electrical, mechanical, and environmental tests for field investigations.
- Collaborate with other functions to address Stage 4 product or process control issues.
- Engage in cross‑functional outsourcing and transfer activities.
- Provide support for industry standard development (e.g., SCTE, IEC, DSCC, IEEE).
Associate’s Degree in Electronics or equivalent military training.
3 years of relevant experience required.
Required Interpersonal Skills- Willingness and ability to teach/train others.
- Strong writing and oral communication skills.
- Professional customer interaction skills.
- Competitive product analysis and RF market knowledge.
- Experience with equipment integration and automation software (Lab View, Bench View, etc.).
- Experience working with hybrid RF/optical products.

- Detail‑oriented and responsive to customer requests.
- Effective and credible communicator.
- Honest, clear, and direct communication.
