This role actively recruits first‑year students to the Spur Start program by serving as a guide and advocate for prospective students, families, and communities within the Denver metropolitan area.
Responsibilities- Connect with prospective students and families virtually and in person via email, phone, text, and video.
- Co‑lead the Spur Start Student Ambassador program with the Assistant Director of Denver Recruitment and serve as the face of the university at recruitment events, information sessions, and off‑campus engagements.
- Attend campus‑wide meetings, high‑school visits, college fairs, one‑on‑one appointments, and other recruitment events to represent the program.
- Collaborate with Spur campus staff and provide admissions updates during staff meetings.
- Counsel prospective students and families through the enrollment process, navigating campus systems, requirements, processes, and resources.
- Provide daily drop‑in counseling and present to visiting school‑aged groups as needed.
- Respond to phone, email, and text inquiries in a timely fashion.
- Create and implement Spur Start recruitment programming such as the high‑school counselor preview event and the student preview event.
- Serve as the point of contact for the Events and Outreach team to coordinate event logistics, staffing, and catering.
- Design and coordinate programming during events, including student panels, faculty mock lectures, and student‑led tours.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
- May require some travel.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Interest and/or experience in college‑level admissions or college counseling.
- Demonstrated presentation and public‑speaking skills.
- Understanding of the Land Grant Mission of CSU.
- Experience working with diverse student populations.
