The University of Southern California (USC) Department of Facilities Planning & Management (FPM) is seeking an Elevator Maintenance Mechanic to join its team.
The Work You Will DoThe Elevator Maintenance Mechanic performs standard elevator procedures, trains other journeymen on specific skills and tasks as needed, determines whether equipment should be repaired or replaced, and estimates the materials required for specific job components.
- Performs standard elevator procedures and monitors and maintains elevators on the university campus(es).
- Responds to emergencies on university campus(es), assists trapped passengers, and performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
- Determines materials required for maintenance or remodeling, purchases materials and services, and initiates requests for materials.
- Prepares reports and maintenance records as needed.
- Trains other journeymen on specific skills and tasks as required.
- Initiates work orders for elevator maintenance repairs.
The hourly rate range for this position is $47.84-$56.73. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer alignment, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
JobQualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with Motion controls.
- Experience working with GAL door equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Three years of experience in the maintenance and repair of cable and hydraulic elevators.
- Knowledge of city and state building codes and elevator codes.
- Familiarity with major elevator manufacturers and equipment.
- Knowledge of all elevator mechanical functions.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated communication skills.
- Most possess valid/current city of Los Angeles Department of Building Services elevator mechanic Journey level license and state of CA certified competent conveyance mechanic (CCCM) General Certification.
- Currently hold a valid California driver's license for a minimum of two years.
