The USC Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine in the Department of Medicine is seeking a Post Doc Scholar Research Associate to join our team.
The newly established laboratory of Dr. Toby Maher is recruiting a Postdoc Scholar Research Associate to undertake an NIH R01 funded project. The Post doc will be responsible for conducting aged murine bleomycin studies, collection of fresh human tissue and generation of primary fibroblast cell lines and precision cut lung slices and for conducting in vitro experiments with fibroblasts and precision cut lung slices.
Responsibilitiesand Duties
- Plan, design, and conduct highly technical and complex research projects independently.
- Prepare presentations and publish scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
- Serve as a project liaison between the lab, collaborators and the NIH.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Highly motivated Ph.D. candidates with a strong background in one or more of the following areas: cell/molecular/developmental biology, mouse genetics, human induced pluripotent stem cells, and related biomedical science fields are encouraged to apply. The candidate must also have enthusiasm, excellent critical thinking skills, a track record of productivity as demonstrated by at least one first-author peer-reviewed publication, an ability to work well both independently and as part of a team, and proficiency in written and oral English communication.
Mon-Fri: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Fully Onsite
The annual base salary range for this position is $70,000 annually. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
Minimum education:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate
Minimum experience:
>1 year post-doc
Minimum field of expertise:
Directly related education in research specialization with advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures, and analysis methods.
