Research Scientist – Aging and Cognition
The Schaeffer Center is seeking a Research Scientist to plan, design, and execute research projects in economics of aging, cognitive and functional health, dementia, Parkinson’s disease and related neurological diseases.
Position DetailsOne‑year appointment with possible renewal based on progress and funding.
Hybrid work arrangement. 100% FTE, grant funded.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, design, and conduct specialized research projects independently.
- Develop advanced concepts, techniques, and standards.
- Identify, research, compile, and evaluate data sources and background information.
- Apply dynamic microsimulation data programming skills.
- Analyze survey and claims data, provide interpretations.
- Develop data files and research documentation.
- Write papers and publish study results.
- Present at academic conferences.
- Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to staff and/or student workers.
- Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate.
- 5 years of directly related research experience with advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures, analysis methods, and theories.
- Demonstrated leadership in developing new ideas and producing academic publications (first‑authored or conceptual leadership).
Annual base salary range: $117,128 – $132,000.

The Schaeffer Center for Health Policy & Economics at USC conducts research on health policy and economics, focusing on aging and cognition. It partners with the USC Mann School of Pharmacy and the USC Price School of Public Policy.
