Job Summary And Responsibilities
As a Labor & Delivery Nurse at Glendale Memorial Medical Center, now part of Common Spirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll guide patients through the labor and childbirth process, focusing on the safety of the mother and baby, with kindness and compassion. You may work in Obstetrics – triaging patients or performing screening exams on walk‑ins, guiding patients through routine induction and delivery, monitoring the mother’s dilation while keeping close watch on the baby’s fetal heart rate, and coaching the mother during delivery.

Responsibilities- Triage walk‑ins to determine if a patient is in labor, water is broken, false alarm, etc.
- Support pregnant patients in labor including induction, epidural assistance (if needed), general pain management, and fetal monitoring.
- Assist and circulate in the operating room for cesarean sections, tubal ligation, cerclage, and emergency procedures.
- Educate patients on various interventions or procedures – medications (name and purpose), exams, and labor stages.
- Assess newborn and provide care.
- Communicate with the care management team, including anesthesiologist, physician or midwife, lactation nurse, charge nurse, postpartum unit, patient and family.
- 6 months acute‑care experience in labor and delivery; one year preferred.
- Minimum education for licensure.
- AHA Basic Fetal Monitoring, NRP, ACLS, BLS certifications required.
- Current California license as a Registered Nurse.
