Registered Nurse - 4th Floor Med/Surg and Telemetry - Full Time 12 Hour Night Shift (Union)
As an integral member of the patient care team, the Registered Nurse supports the Chief Nursing Officer in leading the team to provide safety, recovery, and comfort for patients. The RN implements the nursing process (assessment, nursing diagnosis, care planning, education, implementation, evaluation and revisions), and provides education and advocacy in compliance with regulatory requirements including CMS Conditions of Participation, Title 22, CDPH regulations, and DNV‑GL/NIAHO standards.
Responsibilities- Support unit manager and director in quality improvement and unit growth.
- Provide leadership in collaboration with coworkers and other departments; manage efficient services with meaningful outcomes.
- Exercise decision‑making authority within scope of practice and patient classification.
- Practice to the full extent of legal scope of practice based on education, training, and competency.
- Provide a healing environment, prevent harm, educate patients on conditions, self‑care actions, findings, and reporting.
- Assist charge nurse with planning patient care for the shift; contribute to unit planning and improvement.
- Precept new hires and validate competency; teach nursing students.
- Delegate tasks to RNs, LVNs, CNAs as indicated.
- Coordinate assigned team and communicate expectations and interventions.
- Identify improvement opportunities and communicate through the chain of command.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Graduation from Registered Nurse Program.
- BSN desired (required within 5 years if not upon hire).
- 1 year clinical experience in an acute care setting preferred.
- Experience treating orthopedic and stroke patients preferred.
- 1 year nursing experience in an acute care setting such as ICU, stepdown, or ER preferred.
- 1+ year IR, EP, or Cardiac Cath Lab experience preferred.
- Two years’ experience with Orthopedic and Medical‑Surgical nursing preferred.
- Certification in Medical‑Surgical, Orthopedic or other specialty preferred.
- California Registered Nurse License.
- Certification in clinical specialty or management desired.
- For Surgery: BLS, ACLS.
- For PACU/SDS/GI Lab: BLS, ACLS, PALS.
- For Cath Lab: BLS, ACLS.
- For ED: BLS, ACLS, PALS, AB508 (within 30 days), NIHSS (within 30 days), NRP (within 6 months), ENPC (within 12 months).
- For Geropsych: BLS, AB508 (within 30 days).
- For ICU/5S, 4th Telemetry, 6th Med Surg and Float Pool: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (within 30 days).
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP must be AHA certified.
- All certifications must be active effective date of hire/transfer unless otherwise indicated.
Hourly rate range: $46 – $75 per hour.
