About the roleWe’re looking for an Email Developer, Transactional to own the development and technical execution of transactional and system-triggered email communications across our brand portfolio. Reporting to the Product Manager, Lifecycle & CRM, this role is ideal for a technically strong email developer who can build reliable, scalable, and compliant transactional messaging that supports customer experience and operational workflows.
You’ll be responsible for coding, testing, and maintaining order confirmations, account notifications, shipping updates, system alerts, and other critical triggered communications, working closely with relevant product partners, Engineering, Lifecycle, Client Services, and QA to ensure technical precision, data accuracy, and high deliverability standards.
This role blends hands-on development, systems thinking, and marketing technology expertise, with clear accountability for the reliability and performance of transactional messaging infrastructure.
What you'll do- Build & maintain transactional and system-triggered email templates, including order confirmations, shipping notifications, account updates, password resets, & other operational communications
- Translate product & engineering requirements into responsive, scalable email templates
- Implement dynamic content logic & data mapping to ensure accurate personalization & real-time data rendering
- Partner with Website Engineering to validate event triggers, APIs, & data integrations powering transactional emails
- Ensure tracking parameters & reporting instrumentation are properly configured
- Troubleshoot data discrepancies, rendering issues, or delivery failures in collaboration with Engineering and QA
- Maintain template modularity & coding standards to support scalability & operational efficiency
- Ensure communications meet compliance, accessibility, & deliverability best practices
- Support system upgrades, platform migrations, or ESP changes related to transactional messaging
- 3–6 years of experience in email development, marketing automation, or transactional messaging systems
- Strong proficiency in HTML/CSS for responsive email development
- Experience working with transactional email platforms or ESPs that support API-based messaging
- Understanding of event-based architecture, APIs, & data integration principles
- Experience implementing dynamic data mapping & personalization logic
- Familiarity with QA processes, deliverability standards, & inbox rendering tools
- Comfort collaborating with product partners, Engineers, Lifecycle teams, & Client Services
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to technical accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, multi-brand environment
- A proactive, systems-oriented team member who takes ownership of reliability & execution
- Own the technical infrastructure behind mission-critical customer communications
- Partner closely with Product & Engineering to build reliable, scalable messaging systems
- Play a role in shaping how transactional messaging supports customer trust & experience
- Contribute to a growing lifecycle & product organization with clear technical ownership
- Build systems that directly impact customer satisfaction, retention, & operational efficiency
The pay range for this role is:
95, USD per year (Softline HQ)
