POSITION SUMMARY

As the Manager, Information Security Officers (ISO) you will be an integral leader of the cybersecurity department while also collaborating with stakeholders across the university ecosystem and reporting to the Cyber Governance Director. This is a full‑time exempt position, eligible for all of USC's benefits and perks. This opportunity is remote.

The Manager, Information Security Officers coordinates with multiple university departments, schools, and units to oversee the enforcement of cybersecurity requirements. Serves as a liaison for the cybersecurity function to the broader university, aiming to improve the overall security posture, implement training programs, manage relationships with stakeholders, and develop leading data security practices.

The Manager, Information Security Officers will:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain department, school, and/or unit cybersecurity standards and procedures.
  • Oversee the setup and hardening of departmental information systems, ensuring proper risk assessments and security measures are in place.
  • Manage emergency procedures and contribute to incident response for security events, data breaches, and critical situations.
  • Implement training and awareness programs to maintain compliance with cybersecurity laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Provide technical information security expertise for development of centralized cybersecurity programs and support incident response and investigation.
  • Conduct incident reviews, develop corrective action plans, and coach staff on daily responsibilities.
  • Encourage a workplace culture aligned with the USC Code of Ethics.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 7 years in a technical support, operations, or design/engineering role within IT.
  • 3 years in information security as an advisor or consultant.
  • 3 years in a management role.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., GCIH, GSEC, CISM, CISA, CISSP, CRISC) or pursuing them.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the cybersecurity landscape, including risk management.
  • Proficient in IT infrastructure and cybersecurity tools.
  • Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences, strong analytical and decision‑making abilities.
  • Experience with security audits and compliance with industry standards.
  • Strong leadership and ethical standards, with privacy law awareness.
  • Project management skills for planning and overseeing security projects.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong leadership experience with cross‑functional teams.
  • Deep knowledge of security controls, architecture, and advisory roles.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting risk assessments.
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred).
