Quality Engineering Solutions, Inc. (QES) is seeking a Pavement Engineer to support and lead pavement management and rehabilitation design projects for municipal, county, airport, and private-sector clients nationwide. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys data-driven analysis, practical rehabilitation design, and hands‑on involvement in pavement evaluation and management programs. Candidates must have a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering with minimum of five years of pavement engineering experience.
(
Note:
Master of Science degree in civil engineering with pavement/materials emphasis preferred.) The Pavement Engineer will contribute to high-quality pavement management programs, develop rehabilitation strategies, perform forensic evaluations, support business development efforts, and help clients make informed, cost-effective decisions.
- Conduct and support pavement management programs, including PCI surveys, network-level condition assessments, and QA/QC of collected data.
- Develop multi-year capital improvement plans aligned with client budgets and performance goals.
- Analyze pavement performance trends and deterioration models to recommend maintenance and rehabilitation strategies.
- Use pavement management systems such as Street Saver, PAVER, or similar tools to model scenarios and optimize treatment timing.
- Integrate GIS-based data visualization and spatial analysis into planning and reporting.
- Develop project-level rehabilitation designs including overlays, mill-and-fill strategies, structural strengthening, and surface treatments.
- Evaluate materials, traffic loading, and environmental conditions to select appropriate treatments and design thicknesses.
- Prepare practical recommendations that balance performance, constructability, and life-cycle cost.
- Support clients in implementing preservation programs that extend pavement life and reduce long-term costs.
- Participate in and occasionally lead field investigations including distress surveys, coring, FWD testing, GPR interpretation, and materials sampling.
- Apply back‑calculation of pavement layer moduli to interpret FWD data and support structural capacity evaluations.
- Diagnose pavement distresses and contribute to the development of implementable, cost-effective solutions.
- Prepare clear engineering reports that communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Use Python to automate data processing, analyze pavement condition datasets, and support modeling workflows.
- Develop scripts or tools that improve efficiency in pavement management reporting, QA/QC, or rehabilitation design analysis.
- Utilize ArcGIS for spatial analysis, mapping, and integration of pavement condition, traffic, and asset data.
- Support the development of GIS-based dashboards, maps, and visualizations for client deliverables.
- Support QES’s growth by identifying opportunities within existing pavement management and rehabilitation programs.
- Assist in preparing proposals, scopes of work, and technical content for statements of qualifications.
- Build strong client relationships through responsive communication and high-quality deliverables.
- Represent QES at industry events, client meetings, and professional conferences to strengthen visibility and credibility.
- Contribute as a technical lead or key team member on pavement projects, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely delivery.
- Collaborate with peer group of senior engineers and project managers to support project planning and execution.
- Mentor junior staff in pavement evaluation, data collection, design methodologies, and analytical tools.
- Support QES’s culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and practical engineering excellence.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
- Five (5) or more years of pavement engineering experience, OR a master’s degree with a pavement/materials emphasis.
- Strong understanding of pavement management…
