Psychiatry Residency Program Director

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in the Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California (USC) is accepting applications for the position of Psychiatry Residency Program Director
. This position is for a full-time Clinician‑Educator at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor. This role reports directly to the Chair and Vice Chair for Education, and indirectly to the GME and ACGME.

Description of the Psychiatry Residency Program

The Psychiatry Residency program is a 4‑year, ACGME accredited program co‑sponsored by Los Angeles General Medical Center (LAGMC) and USC. The program is highly sought‑after, receiving approximately 1000 applications for 12 intern slots per year. The program's mission is to train psychiatrists who are clinical experts and leaders in the care of complex, underserved, ethnically diverse, urban patient populations through supervised and mentored experiences in diverse clinical settings and practices.

While LAGMC – one of the largest public safety‑net hospitals in the country – is the primary training site, residents also train at the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Hospital, Keck Hospital of USC (a tertiary‑qua ternary care private hospital), and USC's student mental health center. Residents have many opportunities to engage in the teaching and supervision of medical students, and residents are required to complete scholarly projects as part of their training.

In the last academic year, 18 residents gave national presentations and/or received national awards or fellowships. Graduates of the program pursue careers in academia, the public sector, and private practice.
