Our cardiac catherization lab is a high acuity cath lab specializing in percutaneous interventional procedures of the heart. Procedures include angioplasty, stent placement, rotoblators, peripheral studies, interventions, and structural heart repairs. BTMC has a very robust Structural Heart program and performs procedures such as transcatheter aortic valve replacement and left atrial appendage closures. BTMC has 2 interventional cardiology suites, 1 multipurpose interventional/EP suite, 1 dedicated EP suite, and 1 hybrid OR.

The cath lab team is comprised of highly skilled professionals that include special procedure technicians, registered nurses and interventional cardiologists. The RN is an integral part of the team and is responsible for many duties in the cath lab, including scrubbing, circulating, monitoring, and documenting the case. Under the direction of the physician, the RN is responsible for procedural sedation and maintaining patient safety during the procedure.

POSITION SUMMARY  This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction.
