Job Title
Chemical Plant Operator at Pencco, Inc.
Base Pay Range$18.00/hr - $25.00/hr
Job OverviewThe Plant Operator is essential to maintaining the efficiency and safety of production operations. Responsibilities include handling and monitoring chemicals and accurately recording data. The role also involves troubleshooting equipment issues, adhering to safety and quality regulations, and working collaboratively with team members to enhance production efficiency. The position demands physical endurance and a commitment to safety, with the need to work flexible shifts, including nights and peak seasons.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Load and unload railcars, trucks, and tankers applicable to the plant's operations.
- Store, retrieve, mix, and monitor chemicals used in production processes.
- Accurately record information such as ingredients, weights, and temperatures, and input data into the database.
- Troubleshoot issues with production equipment and processes.
- Adhere to all company, local, state, and federal safety and quality regulations including proper use of protective gear (i.e. PPE).
- Report accidents, safety violations, or other concerns.
- Assist in planning and improving processes and product quality.
- Work effectively with team members to ensure efficient production operations.
- Complete required training (i.e. Lyons trainings).
- Ability to work collaboratively to improve processes and product quality in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment.
- Be willing to work flexible shifts, including day, night, and weekend shifts, during peak seasons.
- Assist with special projects and other tasks as assigned.
- Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods; climb, crouch, operate tools, and wear safety gear.
- Experience operating heavy machinery, such as forklifts, excavators, front‑end loaders, and bobcats, is preferred.
- Understanding of chemical processes and laboratory testing of chemicals.
- Basic mechanical and computer skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift 50lbs or more.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- More education or experience in a related field may be required.
