Program / Project Manager, Operations Manager
Role
The Deputy Director Building Safety of Development Services performs complex administrative and managerial functions including planning, organizing and directing the programs, activities and staff of the Development Services Department. Based on the area of assignment, responsibilities include active efforts in guiding projects through the full spectrum of the development process, and managing the planning and execution of the following functional areas:
- Building Safety Division
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in building construction, architecture, engineering or a related field and five years progressively responsible experience in urban planning, community development, development services, or a similar environment including two years of management experience.
Possession of an Arizona Board of Technical Registration professional license as an Architect or Professional Engineer is highly desirable.
SalaryPosition is FLSA Exempt and will be paid a salary regardless of hours worked per week. This position is a Grade 420 with an annual salary between $124,950 - $187,428.

Holiday, Vacation, and Sick LeaveRegular status positions offer:
- The City of Glendale observes 10.5 holidays per year, and full‑time employees are also granted an additional 12 hours of holiday special leave per calendar year to celebrate their cultural or religious holidays.
- Vacation leave accrues at 5.33 hours per pay period (138 hours / 17.25 days per year), and increases to 6.12 hours after 5 years, and to 7.6 hours after 10 years of service.
- Sick leave accrues at 4.4 hours per pay period (114 hours / 14.25 days per year).
- * Days per year estimates are based on an 8‑hour work day.
This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Contribution is mandatory, and the current contribution rate is 12.00%.
