The Lead Building Technician reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for guiding departmental staff with routine and preventative maintenance and repair procedures on the university’s academic and clinical campus, housing, off-site clinics, houses, and condos. The Lead Building Technician will provide leadership and oversight to a number of Building and Maintenance Technicians. The hours for this position are Monday
- Friday from 7:00am-3:30pm.
- Lead Building and Maintenance Technicians by demonstrating high degree of technical proficiency and professionalism in performing minor and major repairs of all university buildings, houses, condos, and equipment, both on and off-site.
- Complete major repairs of all university buildings, houses, condos, and equipment under the supervision of licensed maintenance workers.
- Perform preventative maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis including, inspecting belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, greasing bearings and seals, and repairing or replacing broken parts.
- Support the Maintenance Supervisor with supervising the installation, and repair of plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners.
- Repair and maintain plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains.
- Leverage strong project management skills, to assign work orders, ensuring team is providing exceptional service.
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintain records or scheduled maintenance procedures.
- Ensure team follows all safety related policies and procedures, rules, regulations, technical instructions, and guidelines. Use situational awareness to identify unsafe behaviors and conditions.
- Communicate effectively in group settings to coordinate project and routine work assignments.
- Exhibit accountability for meeting group work assignment deadlines.
- Assist with special events and classroom setups as assigned.
- Perform after-hours, weekends and holidays standby duty as required.
- Read and interpret electrical blueprints.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or GED is required. Must have 6+ years of building maintenance related experience which may include previous work experience, formal training, education or certificates related to building mechanical, electrical or plumbing. One year certificate or Associates degree is preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Computer Skills
Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams) required. Familiarity with Campus Facilities Management Systems. Knowledge on budgeting and budget requisitioning systems.
