Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Maintenance Operations Specialists Supervisor, the custodian will assist in keeping the campus clean and safe. They will perform routine and special cleaning of facilities and buildings to ensure they are clean, sanitary and in an orderly condition.
Essential Functions30% - Cleans classrooms, common areas, restrooms, locker rooms and equipment; washes and cleans walls, windows, vents, lights lens.
30% - Sweeps, mop floors, waxing floors, and vacuum floor / carpets (Must operation equipment such as buffer, auto-scrubbers and burnishers).
20% - Dusts and polishes furniture; empties trash for classrooms and common areas.
10% - Performs assigned tasks in response to requests and complaints; keeps assigned tools / equipment in clean and safe working condition.
10% - Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsCompletion of formal or informal education or experience which assures the ability to read, write, and speak at a level sufficient for the successful completion of the job duties as described.
Desired Qualifications- A. Two (2) or more years' experience in cleaning a school, college or equivalent (Government or business office, etc.)
- B. Experience running floor care equipment for projects such as stripping and waxing floors
- C. Experience using and labeling of cleaning products and use PPE
- D. Experience in floor care, such as extracting carpets
- E. One (1) year of relevant full-time MCCCD experience during the previous two years
Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and /or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body.
Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed in an indoor environment with moderate exposure to hazardous materials (such as chemicals, fumes, odors, poor ventilation, gasses, blood or other body fluids). Work may sometimes occur in dusty or seldom occupied facilities.
