About Us:

The City of Glendale Parks and Recreation Department is split into two distinct areas:

* The Parks Division manages and maintains all public parks, open spaces, trails, storm water retention basins, landscaping at municipal facilities and Thunderbird Conservation Park. The Division is also responsible for monitoring and ensuring the safety and security of park and facility use.

* The Recreation Division offers opportunities to enhance the social, physical, mental and economic health of our community through a variety of diverse recreation programs and facilities. Recreation programs and events are held at the Foothills Recreation and Aquatics Center, the Glendale Adult Center, Historic Sahuaro Ranch, the five community centers and at basketball, tennis, skate courts and other recreation facilities throughout the city.

The Role:

Performing skilled and semi-skilled construction, maintenance, and repair work to support the City's aquatic centers, splash pads, and related facilities. This position ensures the safe and efficient operation of aquatic amenities while providing excellent service to the public.

Salary:

This position is:

* FLSA non-exempt, and will earn overtime for any hours worked over 40 in a week.

* A Grade 312 with with an annual salary between $42,714.10 - $64,071.02.

Regular status positions offer:

* The City of Glendale observes 10.5 holidays per year, and full-time employees are also granted an additional 12 hours of holiday special leave to celebrate their cultural or religious holidays throughout the calendar year.

* Vacation leave accrues at:

* 5.33 hours per pay period (138 hours/17.25
* days per year)

* Increases to 6.12 hours after 5 years

* Then caps out at 7.6 hours after 10 years of service.

* Sick leave accrues at 4.4 hours per pay period (114 hours/14.25 days
* per year).

* Days per year estimates are based on an 8-hour work day.

Retirement:

This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).

* The current contribution rate is 12%.

* Contributions are mandatory, and are collected each pay period.

* Performs skilled and semi-skilled construction, maintenance and repair work on pools and splash pads, landscaping, and repair of specialized equipment.

* Operates various light, medium, and heavy equipment including pool vacuums, pallet jacks, trucks, truck with trailers, and motors, pumps and valves.

* May provide general direction to other employees and volunteers.

* Uses various hand and power tools to accomplish tasks.

* Explains and enforces rules and regulations pertaining to safety, maintenance, and operation of aquatic equipment.

* Notifies residents and businesses of work being performed, answers questions from citizens.

* Maintains daily work records; may perform some computerized data entry work.

* Transports and sets up supplies and equipment; makes required safety checks.

* Performs skilled and semi-skilled construction, maintenance, and repair work for the city aquatic centers and splash pads.
