Highlights of the Role
Join EPCOR as a Water Quality Specialist and play a critical role in safeguarding public health and environmental compliance. In this role, you’ll be part of a dedicated Operations team ensuring our drinking water and wastewater systems meet the highest standards. This position reports directly to the Water or Wastewater Operations leadership team, depending on assignment and provides technical expertise that supports operational excellence across multiple service areas.
WhatYou’ll Be Responsible For
- Conduct water and wastewater sampling and testing to ensure compliance with drinking water regulations and wastewater permit requirements at the local and state level. Maintain accurate monitoring and reporting for environmental compliance
- Provide technical guidance on water quality and wastewater issues, including regulatory and permit-based compliance monitoring and reporting
- Maintain and calibrate internal laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Maintain and calibrate inline instruments to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Recommend treatment processes and operational procedures to maintain water quality standards
- Manage the formatting and loading of analytical results for various EPCOR drinking water and wastewater treatment systems into databases; troubleshoot data issues as needed
- Maintain laboratory procedures in compliance with Arizona Department of Health Services requirements for a certified laboratory.
- Communicate with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance and timely reporting.
- Perform other responsibilities as requested
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Water-Related Sciences, or Engineering or equivalent experience
- Valid Arizona Class D driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Knowledge of water quality and wastewater standards, environmental regulations (county, state, and federal), and water/wastewater treatment processes
- Strong analytical and technical skills, including the ability to operate and interpret results from analytical instrumentation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external stakeholders
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and related software tools
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities; capable of prioritizing tasks and working independently to meet deadlines
- Ability to build positive relationships with internal teams and regulatory agencies
