The Role:

The Senior Instrumentation Technician performs advanced journey-level electrical repair and electronics maintenance work for water and wastewater treatment equipment, well site motors, sewage lift station pump instrumentation, and process control equipment, including telemetry and computerized monitoring systems.

Salary:

This position is:

• FLSA non-exempt, and will earn overtime for hours worked over 40 in a week.
• Grade 319 with an hourly salary between $31.8574 - $47.7861.

Holiday, Vacation, and Sick Leave:

Regular positions observe 10.5 holidays per year, plus an additional 12 hours of holiday special leave annually for cultural or religious celebrations. Vacation leave accrues at 5.33 hours per pay period, increasing after 5 and 10 years of service. Sick leave accrues at 4.4 hours per pay period. Days per year are estimated based on an 8-hour workday.

Retirement:

This role participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). The current contribution rate is 12.27%.

Minimum Qualifications:

Two years of vocational training or college coursework in electronics/electrical fields and five years of relevant experience. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience are acceptable. One year of relevant experience may substitute each year of education.

Knowledge of:

• Theory, practices, and design of electronic and electrical systems.
• Operation and safety of electronic test equipment and high voltage systems.
• Computer hardware, software, and PLC programming.

Skills in:

• Using computer hardware and software.

Ability to:

• Provide leadership and training.
• Interpret electronic schematics and specifications.
• Operate, test, and calibrate specialized equipment.
• Identify and resolve equipment issues.
• Communicate effectively in writing and orally.
• Establish effective working relationships.
• Operate city vehicles.

Special Requirements:

• Valid Arizona driver’s license.
• Obtain ADEQ Grade 1 Water or Wastewater System Operator Certificate within 6 months.
• Pass drug and alcohol testing; this is a safety-sensitive position.
• Standby and after-hours call back required.

Physical & Working Conditions:

Work involves climbing, confined spaces, inclement weather, and lifting objects up to 50 lbs. May involve hazardous conditions around high voltages and chemicals.
