General Job Brief
The Director is responsible for the leadership of the Tom Elliff Center for Missions (TECM) including areas of recruitment, academic enhancement, finances, technology resources, and personnel.
This role requires a comprehensive understanding of and commitment to the unique Christian mission and vision of ACU to Transform Culture with Truth, and the ability to advance that mission and vision through the performance of his/her duties, including person-to-person mentorship and discipleship.
Key Responsibilities
* Work in collaboration with the university's mission to enhance and advance missions at Arizona Christian University as a leading mission training center in the southwest.
* Mentor students who are committed to missions.
* Interface with appropriate employees of International Missions Board and North American Mission Board in all matters related to the Tom Elliff Center of Missions.
* Engage with other ministries, organizations, foundations, etc. that share the university's vision for missions for the purposes of counsel and/or collaboration in program structure, fundraising, networking, and professional development.
* Work closely with other Tom Elliff Centers for Missions.
* Recommend the annual budget for the TECM and administer such upon approval.
* Liaise with Admissions and Financial Aid to ensure appropriate awarding of mission scholarships to deserving students.
* Develop and lecture in Missions Forums for academic enhancement based on personal and professional qualifications, as well as mission classes as appropriate.
* Initiate and develop relationships and partnerships with speakers who would add value to Missions Forums.
* Educate Christian groups regarding the existence and purpose of the TECM. This includes student recruitment initiatives associated with TECM.
* Regularly report on the progress of the program to constituents
* Maintain the confidentiality of all departments and University information.
* Work with student life personnel to develop mission opportunities and connections for ACU students.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
* Completing other duties and tasks with utmost integrity and professionalism, as directed, and not necessarily mentioned in this description, may be asked on a volunteer basis.
* Commitment to the University's faith statement, mission, and purposes; and an active Christian faith.
* Comfort and familiarity with the practice of praying with and for others, including students, faculty, and fellow University staff.
* The ability to meaningfully support and encourage students, faculty, and staff from a biblical worldview perspective, using relevant and applicable references from the Old and New Testaments and orthodox Christian writings.
* Demonstrated alignment with and enthusiastic support for the Christian Mission and Core Commitments of the University, including signing the University's Statement of Faith and Core Commitments annually.
Education and Experience
* Master's degree required, Doctoral degree preferred.
* Significant, personal involvement in missions required.
* Experience leading a team and managing budgets, preferably in an academic setting.
Special Requirements
* Must be willing to work nights and weekends, attend special recruiting events, and perform work travel.
* Active church membership and participation in a conservative evangelical protestant church is required.
Ability and Skills
* Exceptional commitment to, and expertise in, missions and the local church.
* Commitment to Christian higher education, including excellent writing ability to communicate in clear, concise, uncomplicated manner with a wide public.
* Ongoing energetic, and enthusiastic personality; "self-starter," high standards of conduct, appearance, and attitude.
* Ability to mentor and equip students for global missions.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; to manage personnel and financial resources with sensitivity.
