General Job Brief

The Tom Elliff Center for Missions (TECM) exists to enhance missions education at ACU through forums and mentorship, facilitate growth through scholarships, recruit students, and partners, and send students called to missions from the local church through ACU to the world.

The Assistant Director for the Tom Elliff Center for Missions for High School Ministries is responsible for developing and implementing curriculum materials for the Center focused on high school students, increasing awareness of the center among Arizona Christian University students, and managing the administrative operation of the Center.

This role also requires a comprehensive understanding of and commitment to the unique Christian mission and vision of ACU to Transform Culture with Truth, and the ability to advance that mission and vision through the performance of its duties, including person-to-person mentorship and discipleship.

Key Responsibilities

* Serve the churches using the prepared materials with students called to missions.

* Develop and implement strategies to increase awareness of TECM among all ACU students.

* Model involvement in missions with regular missions' trips, as approved by supervisor.

* Manage the TECM office, including supervision of student workers.

* Educate Christian groups regarding the existence and purpose of the TECM. This includes student recruitment initiatives associated with TECM.

* Work with student life personnel to develop mission opportunities and connections for ACU students.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

* Commitment to the University's faith statement, mission, and purposes; and an active Christian faith.

* Comfort and familiarity with the practice of praying with and for others, including students, faculty, and fellow University staff.

* The ability to meaningfully support and encourage students, faculty, and staff from a biblical worldview perspective, using relevant and applicable references from the Old and New Testaments and orthodox Christian writings.

* Demonstrated alignment with and enthusiastic support for the Christian Mission and Core Commitments of the University, including signing the University's Statement of Faith and Core Commitments annually.

Education and Experience

* Master's degree required.

* Significant, personal involvement in missions required with a preference for having served in an international missions context.

* Experience mentoring young adults, preferably in an academic setting.

Special Requirements

* Must be willing to work nights and weekends, attend special recruiting events, and perform work travel.

* Active church membership and participation in a conservative evangelical protestant church is required.

Ability and Skills

* Must be a clear communicator with exceptional follow-up skills for closing communication loops

* Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

* Able to write missions curriculum.

* Able to produce new materials in current, trending media.

* Able to relate to and motivate high school and university students.

* Possess high standards of conduct, appearance, and attitude.

Fair Labor Standards Act

This position is considered to be full-time, exempt from overtime pay provisions as provided by the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and any applicable state laws.
