The Destination Development - Meetings & Conventions Manager develops and implements tourism-generating programs to promote Glendale as a premier conference, events and tourism destination and generates bed tax, retail and restaurant sales tax revenues. Manages sales strategies and programs; represents the City at local, regional, national and international tourism sales meetings, conferences and trade shows; works with representatives from the City, and hospitality industry;
generates regular and special reports as requested.
- This position is a grade 406, and is FLSA Exempt
- The salary for this role is $63,108.00 - $94,662.00 annually.

Essential Functions- Develops and implements specific tourism sales strategies and activities to promote Glendale and the region as a conference and tourism destination.
- Generates and attracts quality leads for Glendale hotels and tourism-related businesses to increase revenues for the city and region.
- Plans, executes and implements sales efforts for the City at local, regional, national and international meetings, conferences, sales missions and trade shows. Coordinates stakeholder partnerships, setting appointments, creating trip reports and following up on leads.
- Builds relationships with local, regional, national and international travel and tourism professionals and attracts and supports conventions and conferences through coordination with local and regional hospitality and tourism organizations.
- Organizes and leads familiarization tours of Glendale for local, national and international tourism groups and professionals including the creation of customized itineraries, organizing events and securing hotel, dining and meeting accommodations.
- Administers the Tourism Grants Program.
- Generates national sales, business plans and economic impact reports in a clear, organized and concise manner.
- Provides content for social media and digital efforts to promote conference, meeting, event and travel/trade opportunities.
- Fields marketing and advertising requests from existing and prospective vendors.
- Coordinates and facilitates activities associated with digital and print advertisements and marketing collateral.
- Maintains data utilizing a computerized customer relationship management system.
- Assists clients and event managers with planning events.
- Assists with the operation of the Glendale Visitor Center.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Demonstrates superior seamless customer service, integrity, and commitment to innovation, efficiency, and fiscally responsible activity.
- Participates in public relations and publicity functions for the Convention & Visitors Bureau, the city and valley-wide special events.
- Develops and maintains promotional relationships with agencies in the tourism and hospitality industry.
- Facilitates and maintains membership program.
- Operates a City vehicle.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
