** Purpose*
* Participate in the analysis, design, and inspection of waterfront and heavy industrial engineering projects that are broad and varied in nature, requiring application of technical codes, standards, and guidelines. Learn and contribute towards the design of a variety of above and below water structures comprised of heavy industrial steel, concrete, and/or timber in both shallow and deep-water foundations.

** Responsibilities*
* ** Leadership and Direction*
* + Receive general instruction on key objectives for execution. Receive direction as needed, and especially complex assignments, modified techniques, and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria. Work is completed using advanced (engineering) techniques and (design) principles and is reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound professional judgement. Review work produced by junior staff for quality assurance.

** At the Operational and Company Level*
* + Work closely with more senior project team members to learn about and assist with civil/structural engineering work.

+ Coordinate with other internal departments to meet project requirements.

** Do the Work*
* + Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria on moderately complex projects.

+ Participate in the permitting, planning, design, construction inspection and construction management efforts for a variety of structural marine engineering projects.

+ Complete engineering design and drawing work using computer aided software.

+ Participate in preparing reports and correspondence concerning the direction of assigned projects.

+ Perform feasibility studies, structural planning, detailed design work, permitting and bidding on a variety of waterfront heavy industrial structures.

+ Conduct frequent visits to or may be placed on project sites to monitor construction, assist with construction and structural site inspections, and make assessments. Prepare inspection reports.

+ May perform office construction administrative duties such as reviewing drawings and technical submittals.

+ Participate in resolving design problems that may include performing field investigations or inspections, detailed design work, and detailed checking of design computations or coordination of specific design aspects into a project.

+ May attend meetings with clients and contractors to ensure satisfactory project completion.

+ Review plans and prepare or review technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.

+ Keep abreast of the latest technical developments in general structural, waterfront, heavy industrial and building technology.
