Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team at Hawthorne Animal Hospital. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and welfare, along with the technical skills necessary to assist veterinarians in providing high-quality medical care. The Certified Veterinary Technician will play a vital role in our veterinary practice, supporting our mission to ensure the health and well-being of our patients.
Responsibilities- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and medical procedures, ensuring the safety and comfort of animals.
- Perform clinical assessments and gather information from pet owners regarding health history, symptoms, and behavior to aid in diagnosis.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
- Utilize technical skills to conduct laboratory tests, including blood analysis, urinalysis, and cytology.
- Monitor and record vital signs of animals before, during, and after procedures.
- Manage anesthesia and provide post-operative care for patients recovering from surgery.
- Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies, ensuring a sterile environment.
- Educate pet owners on animal health, nutrition, behavior, and post-care instructions.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
- Assist with radiology, dental care, and other diagnostic procedures as needed.
- Participate in client communication and maintain a positive practice image through exemplary customer service.
- Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology from an accredited program.
- Certification/Licensure as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) in Illinois.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a veterinary practice is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and behavior.
- Proficient in performing technical skills and operating veterinary equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- Compassionate and dedicated to the care of animals with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
