Overview

Organizational Overview: Partners In Care Maryland, Inc. (PIC) is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to empower older adults to age in community through a unique culture of service exchange. Established in 1993, PIC provides neighborly, niche services such as transportation, handyman repairs, and case management to ensure that our older neighbors continue to age in their own homes safely, independently, and with dignity.

This position empowers older adults to remain independent in their own homes by:

  • Engaging members to participate in the PIC culture of service exchange.
  • Providing advocacy and case management services to support independence and economic security of our members.
  • Working in partnership with Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and a broad range of human service and community agencies to meet the non-medical care needs of older adults in the region.
  • Advocating for funding to meet the critical needs of older adults in the region.
Position Summary

This role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of both our donation center and retail store. The Supervisor will lead and work alongside a dedicated team of volunteers, providing guidance and hands-on support in receiving, processing, pricing, merchandising, and selling donated items.

This is a highly interactive, fast-paced position that requires strong organizational skills, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to delivering an exceptional experience for customers, donors, and volunteers alike. Flexibility in scheduling—including availability on Saturdays—is essential to meet the operational needs of the boutique.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service to donors & customers.
  • Support and guide volunteers in their duties.
  • Receive, sort and prepare donations in the donation center.
  • Transport items back and forth from the donation center to the store.
  • Research, price and merchandize items in the store.
  • Operate a cash register as well as open and close the store as needed.
  • Ensure a clean, organized environment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Boutique Manager.
Qualifications – Required
  • H.S. Diploma.
  • Retail Supervisory Experience (Preferred).
  • Experience working with an Older Population (Preferred).
  • Background check required.

  • Friendly, respectful demeanor.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with volunteers and team members.
  • Proven retail or customer service experience.
Work Environment &

Physical Requirements
  • Workplace is a combined office/retail store/warehouse environment.
  • Must be willing to walk/stand up to 8 hours a day.
  • Physically able to lift or move items up to 30 lbs. frequently during shift.
