Position Overview

As a hotel engineer, it's your job to troubleshoot and repair hotel equipment, facilities, and systems (including HVAC and electrical). Your job duties include performing preventative maintenance, making regular inspections, coordinating the maintenance staff, diagnosing potential problems, and staying within budget.

Essential Job Functions
  • Perform routine maintenance around the building, including fixing structural damage such as window, door, or wall repair.
  • Repair broken or leaking plumbing to prevent water damage and restore full use of water fixtures.
  • Repair damaged electrical wiring when a short or severed wire occurs.
  • Maintain the building HVAC equipment to ensure climate control is functioning properly.
  • Apply preventative measures to reduce future problems, such as sealing a flat roof.
  • Address safety hazards to prevent injuries.
  • Paint the building when old paint has faded or chipped.
  • Maintain files of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Program phone equipment according to hotel needs.
  • Work with and train hotel maintenance staff in a variety of areas.
  • Maintain the appearance quality of the interior and exterior of the hotel.
  • Paint and stain walls, trim, and doors.
  • Repair wallpaper, carpet, sheetrock, and doors in the hotel.
  • Keep an orderly and well-stocked inventory of finishing supplies needed in the hotel.
  • Maintain a superior quality in the guest rooms and check operation of all guest room equipment.
  • Correct minor problems and report major problems to the General Manager.
  • Keep records of rooms completed and ensure par stocking of regularly used parts and supplies.
  • Inspect and repair minor problems in common areas.
  • Learn emergency procedures and ensure safe operation of all equipment, chemicals, and lockout procedures.
  • Report to work for scheduled shifts, on time and in uniform in accordance with company policy.
  • Know and comply with all company policies and procedures pertaining to this position and its duties.
  • Performs Other Related Duties As Required.
