General Statement of Duties
Provides oversight of the reimbursement Department of Mental Health and Developmental Services; does related work as required.
Essential Duties- Oversee reimbursement Department of Mental Health and Developmental Services; perform related work as required.
- Responsible for a variety of reimbursement processes for mental health, developmental and substance use disorder services.
- Supervise a team of seven, including an Accountant I and Account Clerks in the Reimbursement Department.
- Bill and collect all fee-based funding for the Department of Mental Health & Developmental Services.
- Maximize fee revenue by working closely with IT to assure A/R system operates to maximum functionality.
- Audit billing cycle transactions, including age accounts, and provide feedback to staff.
- Extensive knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Insurance, and the five Managed Care Organizations (MCO's) billing and reimbursement processes.
- Oversee workflow on a day-to-day basis to identify issues that need to be addressed and resolved with the Business Manager.
- Responsible for financial reporting of revenue and accounts receivable.
- Audit accounting and data entry processes as needed to ensure integrity of data reported monthly and quarterly.
- Meet with Business Manager on a regular basis to discuss identified trends and process improvement recommendations.
- Prepare comprehensive reports as mandated and requested, present findings when requested in a timely manner.
- Maintain current and accurate revenue reports for multiple programs; adhere to monthly/quarterly/annual billing and reporting schedule.
- Oversee financial reporting and month-end closing process for self-pay and third party insurance billing.
- Act as liaison with insurance provider relations departments by coordinating the billing of insurance claims, client statements and receiving funds for payment of services provided by the agency.
- Participate in testing, training, and implementation of enhanced functionality to existing or new account receivable software in coordination with our Business Manager and Information Services Project Team.
- Ensure compliance with established regulatory guidelines established by the Affordable Care Act related to credentialing, billing and electronic fund transfers.
- Perform related work as assigned.
Possession of a bachelor's degree in accounting and three (3) years of related successful professional accounting experience, including at least one (1) year of supervisory experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
