Head of Finance and Accounting

A growing, investment-backed financial services platform is seeking a Head of Finance and Accounting to lead its accounting and finance function. The organization operates with a lean, high-performing team and supports a diversified, asset-based portfolio.

This role offers high visibility, executive partnership, and direct exposure to institutional investors in a fast-growing, transaction-driven environment.

The Head of Finance and Accounting will oversee accounting, financial reporting, and back-office finance operations within a private equity–backed organization. Reporting directly to executive leadership, this individual will serve as the primary owner of financial close, reporting, controls, and investor-facing deliverables.

The ideal candidate is a CPA with a strong technical accounting background, experience in PE-backed or asset-based businesses, and a hands-on approach to financial leadership.

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes in accordance with GAAP.
• Prepare and present financial statements, management reporting, variance analysis, and KPI reporting for executive leadership and investors.
• Own budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and long-range financial planning.
• Manage borrowing base calculations, covenant compliance, and lender reporting.
• Perform technical accounting research related to complex transactions, revenue recognition, and asset-based structures.
• Oversee treasury, cash management, accounts payable, and expense policies.
• Manage payroll and sales commission calculations through third-party providers.
• Establish and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and process improvements.
• Coordinate tax filings and compliance with external tax advisors.
• Support financial statement audits, asset-level audits, and investor due diligence requests.
• Hire, develop, and manage accounting and finance staff as the organization scales.

• CPA required.
• 10+ years of accounting and finance experience, including:
• Public accounting (audit or advisory).
• Experience in a private equity–backed, asset-based, credit, or transaction-oriented business.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience with monthly close, investor reporting, and lender reporting.
• Proven ability to operate as a hands-on finance leader in a lean environment.
• Strong communication skills with experience partnering with senior executives and institutional investors.
• Advanced Excel skills; strong proficiency in Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis in a growth environment.
